Sustainability isn’t just an idea—it’s a commitment to a better future. By nurturing environmental awareness in young minds, we empower a generation that values nature and understands its role in shaping a thriving, harmonious world.

At BXCT, we believe in learning through experience. Our latest SDG School Programme at a farm brought sustainability to life, immersing children in farm ecosystems while sparking critical thinking and an appreciation for eco-friendly practices.

Learning Sustainability Through Experience

On 8 December 2024, a busload of eager students arrived at The Acre by Farm Fresh for an experiential farm adventure. Over a hearty breakfast, they listened intently to an introduction on sustainable farming and the farm’s eco-friendly initiatives.

A standout moment was an interactive session on cow anatomy. As the children explored a detailed chart, their curiosity soared, eagerly asking insightful questions about milk production, farming processes, and sustainability in agriculture.

Connecting Learning with SDGs

The journey into sustainability deepened with an inspiring session by the ESG Association of Malaysia (ESGAM). The trainer introduced the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on responsible consumption, environmental stewardship, and community impact.

To make learning even more engaging, students were challenged to snap photos of cows with heart-shaped markings on their faces or foreheads—the best shot of the day would win a prize! Cameras in hand, the children excitedly set off on their outdoor adventure.

Exploring Nature’s Wonders

Excitement soared as the students hopped onto a truck ride across the farm. Against the stunning backdrop of Kuala Lumpur, they explored diverse plant species and sustainable farming methods, their voices filling the air with cheerful songs as they embraced the experience.

The adventure continued in the indoor animal enclosures, where children met chickens, rabbits, goats, and cows, discovering their role in sustainable living—from milk production to organic farming.

Worm compost

One of the most memorable moments was exploring worm compost trays. With enthusiasm, the children felt the soil and worms, learning firsthand how composting transforms organic waste into nutrient-rich fertiliser—a tangible lesson in sustainability!

A Celebration of Learning

After an action-packed morning, the children enjoyed a well-earned lunch before the much-anticipated cow photo challenge winner was announced. The friendly competition added an extra layer of excitement to an already unforgettable day.

The event concluded with a group photo and reflection session. Students eagerly shared their thoughts and takeaways, demonstrating a newfound appreciation for sustainability, farming, and environmental responsibility.

A Meaningful Step Towards Sustainability Education

This programme marks another milestone in BXCT’s commitment to sustainability education. By bridging theory with experience, we gave students a practical understanding of eco-conscious living. ESGAM’s expertise made SDG principles tangible, inspiring children to see sustainability as part of their daily lives—perfectly aligned with BXCT’s mission of shaping environmentally responsible citizens.

Shaping the Future of Sustainability

Through immersive experiences, this programme nurtured critical thinking, environmental awareness, and responsibility in young learners. By aligning with ESG goals and fostering meaningful partnerships, BXCT continues to lead impactful initiatives that drive positive environmental change.

We’re excited to expand our reach and collaborate with corporate and community stakeholders to create more opportunities for sustainability education. Together, we’re shaping a future where young minds champion environmental stewardship.
